Filed under: Computers — admin @ 1:11 pm

The term Computer on Module was designed by Venture Development Corporation, USA. This is used to illustrate a category of embedded computer boards. Computer on Module is the most popular way to implement embedded solutions. They are short of standard input/output devices fixed on the board, but they could be pin-headed on the board instead. It is mounted on a baseboard. Embedded computer are widely used these days. They could be called as special-purpose computer. Some of the examples of embedded computers are portable music system, synchronized control of space shuttle etc. They are premeditated to perform chosen functions. They can satisfy real time limitations with a custom developed hardware and software to manage the requirements of a particular system. Industrial computer is totally different from the personal computers used at home or work. They do not match the requirement of a single board computer which is found in embedded systems. Industrial computer perform individual assigned tasks unlike your personal computer which can perform multiple functions at the same time. Since they are used in industries they are planned to survive vibrations, shocks, dust, mist, radio frequency disturbances, electromagnetic intrusions and flash.
